About Chris Watson

Before entering education I spent most my adult working life in publishing & design. I started in trade magazines and then progressed through several high street titles until it culminated in being asked to help with the launch of You Magazine, The Mail on Sunday's colour supplement. This was a position I remained in for the next 10 years. I decided that after twenty years it was time for a change so I returned to education to get a degree as a mature student. Having been awarded a degree in humanities through the intensive accelerated route, so gaining the degree in two years rather than the traditional three. I worked in several positions until moving to Birmingham. In Birmingham I worked at Charles Schwab's an independent stockbroker and at the same time studied and gained a City & Guilds 7308 teaching certificate. I then took up the position at University College Birmingham as a lecturer in design While here I took a part time Masters degree at Coventry and gained a merit award.I have a PGCE which I have found invaluable in extending my knowledge of teaching and learning.
