About Chris Weinstein

I am passionate about community development, working towards projects that help establish a strong sense of place, and creating local identity.” Chris applies his skillsets acquired through his education and first-hand experience towards current and developing projects. He has a strong passion for problem-solving and finding effective and efficient solutions. Projects focusing on restoration, open space and recreation have served as the foundation of inspiration that led Chris down a path of Planning and Natural Resource Management. In studying natural resource planning, Chris conducted research on how sea level rise is affecting Jacobs Avenue in Eureka, California. This project developed Chris’s skills relating to project scoping, stakeholder engagement, group facilitation and geospatial analysis. With an understanding of permitting requirements, the jurisdiction of public agencies and the processes of local government, Chris approaches projects with thoroughness and a keen eye for detail. Chris also has experience with Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Impact Reports; he is able to outline potential impacts to resources and develop reasonable alternatives and mitigation strategies. One of Chris’s primary goals is to study local models of successful projects and share strategies and best practices for utilizing and protecting resources. Chris is dedicated to employing tenets of sustainability and being a steward of the environment in an effort to share the natural beauty that defines a region and community for generations to come. Chris is a Humboldt State University graduate with a degree in Environmental Management and Protection, and a focus in GIS, natural resource planning.
