Background
About Chris White
Christopher C. White, PhD Contact: herrwhite@outlook.com |(919) 641-0049 In my current position as a Professor of Political Science at Livingstone College, I teach several courses including American Politics, International Relations, Comparative Politics, Political Theory, and American Foreign Policy. I was promoted to associate professor with tenure in June 2018 and to full professor in June 2024. During my doctoral studies, I worked as the Support Writer for the Multiple Futures Project, a major initiative at NATO Allied Command Transformation designed to scan the strategic horizon and investigate future challenges to the Alliance out to 2030. I completed a PhD in International Studies from Old Dominion University, a Master of International Studies (MIS) from North Carolina State University, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in German and History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My book titled Immigration and Regional Integration in a Globalizing World: Myths and Truths about Migration was published by Lexington Books. It investigates the relationship between international migration and regional integration and argues that there is no substantial relationship between the two, despite the political rhetoric that generates enormous fear and hyperbole surrounding these issues. I also published a peer-reviewed journal article on Australia’s policy toward irregular maritime migrants. My most recent publication in the International Social Science Review focuses on security arrangements and international migration and examines NATO’s operations in the Mediterranean Sea in support of the Greek and Turkish governments and their efforts to address the European migrant crisis. Specialties: International Affairs, International Relations, Political Science, Social Science, Interdependence and Transnationalism, American Foreign Policy, International Migration, Regional Integration, German language, International Political Economy
