About Chrissy Tignor

I'm an innovative music educator, curriculum developer, audio engineer, music producer, and content creator passionate about empowering music creators of all levels through engaging, accessible education. I spent eight years as a full-time professor in the Contemporary Writing and Production Department at Berklee College of Music, where I taught core production and writing courses, mentored students one-on-one, and represented the college internationally through auditions and workshops. I also authored and co-authored five courses for Berklee Online, reaching thousands of students worldwide. Most recently, I served as Director of Education at Splice, where I led initiatives to expand music tech education. I launched the company’s first-ever student discount program, created experiential learning opportunities centered on sample pack creation, and developed educational content in collaboration with Grammy-winning producers like Sky Rompiendo, Di Genius, Malay, and Jenna Andrews. Through my brand,@datachild, I share music production tips and showcase my vintage audio gear finds on Instagram and TikTok—building a community of curious and creative producers from around the world with multiple millions of views across platforms. I have collaborated with brands such as Sweetwater, iZotope, Audio Technica, inMusic, Blipblox, Omnichord, Otamatone and more. In 2017, I founded the Audio Upcycle project, a music technology initiative at the National Conservatory of Music in the Dominican Republic. With the help of fellow engineers and educators, we built a recording facility using donated gear and recorded a full album of Dominican music. Today, the program includes a music production course that offers Berklee College of Music credit, opening new doors for aspiring producers and musicians. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with incredible artists and organizations, including Spotify, iZotope, Eventide, TLC, Discovery Channel, Kamille, Sylvia Massy, Bastille, and Julien Baker. I’ve also shared my work globally at institutions like Syracuse University, Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, the Uppingham School in the UK, the Shanghai Conservatory, the Baron School of Music in Hong Kong, and the School of the Arts Singapore.
