About Christen Mellars

I am a dedicated and passionate education professional with a strong background in teaching, leadership, and curriculum development. My journey in education began with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and a minor in Elementary Education, graduating Cum Laude from the Teacher Education Program at Colorado State University Pueblo in 2009. I hold a Professional Teacher Certification in Elementary Education (K-6) from the State of Colorado, along with endorsements in Science Education (7-12) and Career and Technical Education (CTE) STEM (K-12). Furthering my commitment to educational leadership, I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Special Education Administration from the University of Northern Colorado in 2018, obtaining licensures as a School Principal (K-12) and Administrator Director of Special Education (K-12). In 2024, I achieved my Doctor of Education (EdD) from Liberty University. Throughout my career, I have gained diverse teaching and leadership experience across multiple states and internationally. I began my career teaching 6th grade at Watson Junior High in Colorado before moving to Overhills Middle School in North Carolina, where I taught 7th grade English Language Arts. I had the unique opportunity to help open Anderson Creek Club Charter School, where I taught 3rd grade while serving as a part-time administrative intern. In 2016, I returned to Colorado to continue teaching at Watson Junior High, and by 2018, I transitioned into a specialized role as a CTE STEM teacher, receiving training in Flight and Space, Energy and Environment, SolidWorks for Makers, App Creation (Block Coding), Microsoft Office, and Keyboarding. I taught these STEM-focused courses to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, fostering innovation and technical skills in the classroom. In 2020, I expanded my experience internationally, teaching middle school science for two years in Stuttgart, Germany. Upon returning to Colorado in 2022, I stepped into a leadership role as an Assistant Principal at an elementary school in Fountain, where I continue to focus on student growth, instructional excellence, and fostering a positive school culture. My passion lies in empowering students and educators through innovation, data-driven instruction, and inclusive practices. I am always eager to collaborate with like-minded professionals to enhance educational outcomes and inspire future generations.
