About Christian Jones

I am a current 4th year PhD candidate at MUSC. I have a passion for science policy, communication, and disability advocacy.I actively participate in several organizations on campus with hopes to make change for the better for my fellow students. These include:I am the current Outreach Chair for MUSC's Alliance for Disability Advocacy. I have spearheaded the new ADA Film Club and Journal Club to initiate discussions about the lived disability experience, how to be an effective ally, and the specific hurdles within the biomedical space. Additionally, members of the executive board and I are taking accessibility concerns to university leadership with a focus on increasing accessibility on campus to better include all individuals no matter their disability status. These initiatives include equitable and accessible parking, mental illness diagnosis and treatment under the university provided psychological services, and an increase in disability representation in DEI initiatives.I serve as a communications intern within the College of Graduate Studies to write EurekAlert!s, in an effort to communicate MUSC researcher's manuscripts to a lay audience, as well as CGS Speaks blog posts about the graduate student experience and/or broader scientific topics.
