About Christian Ryan

Teaching is what I most love to do and do the best. I’m obsessed with designing educational experiences for all kinds of learners that are deeply engaging and transformative. My subject matter varies. My expertise lies in areas of environmental science, sustainability, environmental justice, community-based research, organizational change, leadership, local and sustainable food systems, green building principles, ecology, and other related areas. A recent need to jump out of my comfort zone has led me to support cybersecurity students as a career success coach. In this role, I provide instruction on resume and cover letter development, networking, and interviewing techniques, and advice on topics of cybersecurity career pathways, certifications, and security clearances. Sometimes I simply advise on life in general or give needed words of encouragement or objective feedback. I absolutely love all of it. I am a certified yoga teacher, specializing in healing-based yoga for young people who have experienced trauma. I teach for a New Orleans based organization that provides yoga for youth who have been impacted by the carceral system. I myself am a lifelong learner. I research things that fascinate me for fun and am particularly interested in understanding how our minds work, wicked problems, and the connections between seemingly unrelated things.
