About Christina Dvinge

Waste Collector! As a young child, this was my first job. I collected empty bottles and trash paper left by tourists at a local camp site. And while doing this I listened to foreign languages, I talked to people and I observed their trash habits - secretly wondering about why these people would throw out e.g. bottles that to me as a young child (most obviously) seemed highly valuable! Today, I still wonder about the seemingly obvious – although these days I make a living of digging into the daily habits and routines that we take for granted, I ask nosy questions about the sometimes seemingly obvious or the exotic and I listen to what people are saying and what they are leaving out of a conversation. My passion is to understand relations between people and places – and ultimately the worlds they make for themselves. I´m committed to turn the insights that emerge from my work into ideas, concepts, guidelines, strategies or empowering cultural activities that challenge and change the daily life of businesses, public and private organizations, institutions etc. Doing so, I have e.g- extended the use of public space during the dark time of the year - improved the citizen´s experience of public urban light in the Copenhagen - developed guidelines for a more welcoming environment to Chinese tourists in Copenhagen - helped create a strategy for the new urban neighborhood Bella Kvarter - raised awareness of Danish urban planning and Danish bicycle culture in China - and much more. I see myself working interdisciplinary in the fields of urban development, art, architecture, design, light and darkness, sustainable transformation, Asia-pacific relations – or any great combination of these.
