About Christina Fredrickson

I am a 2019 graduate of the Accounting Technology program at Linn Benton Community College. In my second year of studies, I served as a member of the Student Leadership Council as an Executive Assistant to the Student President. During this time, I also worked with 3 Chicks Bookkeeping to gain a variety of experience working for a diverse group of local, small businesses. As a working student, balancing these many roles required multi-tasking, adherence to a schedule, and a commitment to meeting deadlines. For over fourteen years I have worked at First Alternative Grocery, several years as a manager's assistant. I have had extensive interaction with small scale local farmers and food distributors in the Willamette Valley, and have built strong relationships in the community local food movement. Inspired by my desire to learn new things, I joined the First Alternative finance department in the spring of 2016. I discovered I really like the rational consistency of accounting and chose to pursue greater knowledge in the field. I served on our store sustainability committee for several years. The committee analyzed resource use at First Alternative and made informed proposals for improvements. I find such critical thinking enjoyable and feel good about working with a team to solve a problem. I was elected by my co-workers to our store Elected Leadership Group. This involved working cooperatively with other elected leaders, and Human Resources to schedule, plan, and facilitate the monthly, non-management focused staff forum meeting. As a member of the initial group, I assisted in the creation of guidelines and procedures for the group. For many years I have worked cooperatively with the Summer Solstice Healing Retreat Coordinating Council to create the event each summer. As a member of the council I co-coordinate the volunteer parking crew for the event; recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervising a seven-person crew.
