About Christina Meyer

Not everyone is able to perform mundane tasks that people normally do everyday without thinking about. That is one of the many reasons occupational therapy plays such an important role in society. My career goal is to become an occupational therapist, and I have selected Nutritional Science as my major with an option in Allied Health to help me get there. After performing several hours of shadowing certified OTs in many different areas of the field, there is no doubt in my mind that this is what I want/need to do. I find it captivating how occupational therapy is able to expand and broaden a person's outlook on life. For example, when you watch someone struggle to put on their socks and have to be taught how to use a sock aid by an OT, it makes you think twice before the next time you are struggling to decide on what shoes out of the many you own to wear that day. Overall, I feel there would be no greater reward than for me to be able to achieve this career goal. Each day on the job, I don't want to feel like I'm actually at work. I want to learn something new and also possibly restore hope in someone who feels they have nowhere else to go. With occupational therapy, I know I can do just that.
