Background

About Christine Lyons

I'm a writer and communications professional with over eight years experience working in the post-secondary sector. Exercising my creativity and critical thinking when developing content for a varied audience is my greatest strength. My academic background is in English and cultural studies and I'm a firm believer that the stories we tell have the power to change the world and peoples' lives for the better. A wordsmith at heart, I have extensive experience writing and editing a range of material: research and people profiles, project proposals and ad copy, to name just a few. My extended skill set is diverse and includes: proficiency with the Adobe creative suite, website conception and construction, and excellent organizational, interpersonal and team-leadership skills. Having worked on a range of projects with many textual and visual elements, I know that the smallest and largest of projects require a good communications strategy. Whether working on major research grants' communications involving multiple collaborators or individual stories about student resilience, I know how to create accurate and engaging copy and integrate solid graphic design elements into a project. Finally, I consider myself to be forever a critical thinker and life-long learner. Self-reflexivity, curiosity, and an openness to thinking through multiple perspectives are just a few of the values I bring both to my life both professionally and personally.
