About Christine Oconnor

I am an innovative and proactive UX practitioner with over 20 years experience who is always interested in challenging and fun opportunities that will make use of my passion for UX research and product design. I bring hands-on experience in multiple platforms including web, mobile and desktop applications with a keen understanding of the challenges surrounding the design for an ever changing market space. In 2004, I was recruited by RIM to manage a newly centralized Customer Satisfaction Survey initiative. I drove for the development of processes and specifications to ensure consistency and legitimacy of the program. I championed a strong analytic approach to better identify areas of customer satisfaction improvements, using analytic techniques like top box analysis. Given the achievements in this role, I eventually moved over to the Usability Group, which was a new group to RIM, to assist in providing traction for the field based on previous successes in Customer Satisfaction research. I rose as a Lead UX Researcher on a variety of platforms and projects. In 2013, I was brought in to D+H to apply my strong analytic background and UX design experience to champion a User-Centred Design approach to software development. I built the UX practice from the ground up on the Canadian side of the organization and led a cross border initiative to create unified UX guidelines. In 2015, I brought my experience creating a library of reusable UX components at D&H to OpenText. I worked with several key UX designers on the internal design system in addition to working as a UX lead on a flagship content management system. As with all my roles, I recommend research approaches based on my involvement and life-cycle of each particular project. My design recommendations are based on quantitative, qualitative analyses, and overall experience. I use wireframes to convey UI layout and navigation model and screen mock-ups to convey visual recommendations. I am a strong collaborator as I believe it fosters innovative and user-centric solutions to complex interface design challenges.
