About Christine Roy

I am passionate about educational practices and professional learning and enjoy supporting teachers in their practices so they are seen and heard all while ensuring there is an opportunity to impact learning. The variety of positions and roles I held spanning from grades K-5 in the last 35 years gives me a lens of which to view the curriculum, resources, and provide professional learning. Additionally, working within Professional Learning Communities (PLC+) at the elementary level has afforded me the opportunity to utilize data to inform instruction, reflect and discuss research based practices through an equity lens while increasing collective efficacy. I strive to continue my own growth as a professional and know that is a paramount component of being an educator or in any role. I read a variety of professional titles and attended workshops in order to better support my colleagues and the goals aligned with our school improvement plan. An area of my life I am very proud of is my leadership and dedication to the Jeanine Nicarico Memorial Fund for Literacy. This foundation is run by my family. It is our fund's mission of the Jeanine Nicarico Memorial Fund for Literacy to honor the memory of Jeanine by acquiring and distributing resources that promote a deeper understanding of literacy and provide enriched literacy opportunities for the learners within the community. I lead out the annual grants funded each year to educators, college scholarships, and organized a 5K GLOW run for 20 years as our annual fundraiser of over 1800 participants and 150 volunteers. This year we are sponsoring and organizing a Literacy Conference, Teach Learn G.L.O.W, for educators 20 presenters and 400 participants over 2 full days. Working and leading out this fund with my family and colleagues supports all learners in our community to become life long readers and writers
