About Christine Shields
I am a Project Scientist at the NSF's National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) with expertise in applying Earth System Models to Earth’s past, present and future climates, and focus on Earth’s hydrological cycle in the context of climate change, with particular emphasis on atmospheric rivers (ARs), monsoons, cyclones, and extreme events. Understanding these types of high impact events sit at the intersection between weather and climate and connect regions around the globe, including polar climate. I am a proponent of interdisciplinary and collaborative science, an AGU Voices for Science alumni, and a current AGU Local Partner. As a global citizen and scientist, I am keenly interested in building sustainable and actionable climate change policy. Views expressed here are entirely my own.
