About Christine Springer

I am currently serving as Sherwood Assisted Living's Activity Director. In this position, I ensure the residents have a robust and engaging activity program that enhances their lives physically, cognitively, creatively, and spiritually. I serve alongside the marketing director fully planning and coordinating our community marketing events. I design newspaper ads, flyers and other advertising materials primarily using Microsoft Publisher. I also write and distribute the press releases for Sherwood, as well as design write, take picture and edit photography of the monthly newsletter. I earned by Bachelor's Degree from the College of Great Falls, which is now known as University of Providence, in Great Falls, Montana. My major field is Communications with minors in English and Speech. While in college and for several years beyond, I served in The United States Navy Reserve as a Storekeeper, which is management of the Navy supply system. Upon completion of college, I worked in Germany for the United States Air Force at Hahn Air Base's Public Affairs Office. I began working with desktop publishing programs and dabbled in photography and photo editing which has become a favorite job skill I possess. From there, I became the owner and operator of my own home child care business which allowed me to combine a viable, successful business with family life. I was responsible for all aspects of the business from accounting, to marketing, to teaching and care of the children. Upon moving to Sequim, I settled into serving the robust senior citizen market. I became a home care aide, where I learned about geriatric care as people both physically and cognitively decline. I've also learned to be patient and creative in interactions with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, needs, and perspectives. Although I'm very satisfied in my current position, creatively I have recently found coordinating the marketing events to be most intriguing and I hope to explore this area further as time inevitably marches on.
