About Christine Theoret

UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR - I teach macroscopic and surgical anatomy to undergraduate students of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. At the graduate level, I teach wound healing biology and supervise the studies of Master and PhD students. In 2006-2007 I was a visiting professor at the Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Lyon (France). In 2014-2015 I was a visiting professor at the Institute for Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences of Massey University (New Zealand). In 2018-2023 I was Dean of the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire, UdeM RESEARCH - My research focuses on the molecular and cellular biology of wound repair, with the horse as a model of dermal fibroproliferative disorders. I aim to develop novel therapies that will decrease scarring and favor tissue regeneration. TEXTBOOK AUTHOR & EDITOR - I am the editor of a 700-page textbook entitled "Equine Wound Management", published by Wiley-Blackwell. The third edition, a comprehensive, authoritative resource for both theoretical and practical information on the care of wounds in horses, will be published in 2016: http://ca.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0813806739.html INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT - I developed and coordinate an International Veterinary Development course for undergraduate students. I am a member of both the advisory board and the executive committee of the Groupe International Vétérinaire of the Université de Montréal. I have coordinated a rotation for veterinary students to work with elephants in Laos in collaboration with ElefantAsia In 2012 I contributed to teaching and curriculum development at the new state veterinary school in Cameroon.
