About Christophe Caens

I have graduated an MSc in Water Management with a specialisation in Community Water Supply. I have then worked for 4 and half years in England and Jordan for various consultancy companies, first as consultant engineer, then as business engineer (representing the company overseas and working on its international development). The fields of work were Engineering, Master Planning, Environment, Water and Waste Water projects. I finally went back to the original subject of my MSc - the humanitarian action - and joined the ICRC as a WatHab engineer. I undertook various assignments, from managing the department at regional level (central Iraq, west of Ivory Coast, North Kivu out of Goma in Congo) to emergency response and support role (Bangui in CAR) as well as a position of head of department in order to re-open engineering activities in Lebanon, in connection to the Syrian crisis. My last and current assignment, as Deputy WatHab Coordinator, put me in charge of the global supervision of part of the department's activities and related strategies while in Juba, South Sudan, or in Kabul, Afghanistan (various lead on rural, urban, emergency preparedness, primary health care, passive security.). Interested in humanitarian action and the fair development, I intend to keep a dual profile - Technical and Management - and to stay working overseas.
