About Christopher Allsop

I have been fortunate enough to work in a number of industries and role that have brought me to where I am now. With backgrounds in technology, and education in social sciences (with a little bit of everything else thrown in!) I work in the field of Disaster and Emergency Management. I am able to call upon many of the skills and lessons I have learned in my previous roles for this field. My ability to talk to people and listen to their needs I developed in sales and customer service. My critical and systems based thinking comes from my technology background with problem solving. I have learned to look at what the end product should be, and reverse engineer a plan to get there. Talking to people in need, and those supporting them have given me a greater understanding of how our organization work and how we can improve it. My previous roles which have involved a lot of thinking on the fly, and coming up with solutions in a short period of time I find are well suited to a role where things change quickly. This translates well to disaster responses where decision need to be made fast, and with limited information. The role of humanitarian response is changing on many fronts, and I am excited to be a part of a field that is seeing these changes happening.
