About Christopher Balthazar

I am a junior pursuing a BA in neuroscience and premedical studies at Columbia University. Growing up with two doctors in the house, I became very passionate about science and had a strong interest in the healthcare field. Even though I grew up adoring science, I also became very passionate about sports especially track and field and basketball. As of now, I am an NCAA division I track and field athlete while also balancing a full academic workload. I am originally from Chicago Illinois, but I grew up in Westchester, New York. When I was younger, I was heavily involved in sports. I was involved in basketball from elementary school into high school and track and field from high school into college. In college, I became very involved in the healthcare field as I became a certified EMT, phlebotomist, and EKG technician at Code One Incorporation centered in the Bronx, New York. I became very knowledgeable in emergency first aid and am able to perform CPR, take vital signs, perform venipunctures, and take a patient history. Currently, I hold leadership roles on the Columbia track and field team as I collaborate close with coaches to lead in stretching, conditioning, and workouts. In addition, I am involved in the fraternity Kappa Delta Rho.
