About Christopher Boafo

Dr. Christopher Boafo is an academic, researcher, and international consultant with a Ph.D. in Management Science, specializing in Business Administration. He also holds an MBA focusing on Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise (SME) Development. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Management and previously served as a Research Fellow at Leipzig University's SEPT Competence Center. Dr. Boafo's expertise spans diverse quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, including covariance-based structural equation modeling, case studies, and interpretive interview approaches. His pioneering research initially delved into the intricate nexus between international business and informal entrepreneurship. Building on this foundation, his current work examines the critical impact of university-business (SME) linkages on firm internationalization. He is particularly focused on knowledge transfer mechanisms from business schools to enterprises, facilitated by academics and in-service-trained business executives. Through his research, Dr. Boafo is committed to advancing the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) framework. His work underscores business schools' vital role in contributing to the public good through innovative teaching, impactful research, and active engagement in their third mission. His insights and initiatives equip business schools with the strategies to drive sustainable development and global business success. In 2020, he received three university scholarships from three countries for Ph.D. studies after being awarded the Best Master Student for the 2016-2018 intake at Leipzig University with Academic Excellence of overall 1.3 GPA (Distinction). They are the ACCESS Scholarship Grant (DAAD, BMZ, and Leipzig University), a 100% Tuition Fee Scholarship for four years at the University of Tasmania, Australia, and a Ph.D. Scholarship of the Vaasa University's Graduate School (tuition + living allowance), Finland. These scholarships were awarded on different research topics or proposals. One research proposal was amended by one of the business schools, which was eventually awarded funding from a national agency. Other international awards received during his master's program studies include the DAAD Carlo-Schmid (Fellowship) Scholarship (2018-2019); Winning Team of Hacking Global Health, 2017 World Health Summit; and Full DAAD EPOS Scholarship (2016-2018).
