Research Focus: My current focus is the application of ICT to food and agriculture. This includes Semantic Web technologies, Open Data, Big Data and more generally the role ICT can play in agrifood system, whether at the production stage or in the supply chain. A major current focus is the application of blockchain technologies to the food supply chain. My earlier research background has been Natural Language processing and Semantic Technologies, with a focus on knowledge representation for a variety of application areas including the biomedical and life science domains, disaster response. Other areas of interest have been social media, natural language processing, ontology learning, ontology management and ranking, and other areas of artificial intelligence.
