Background

About Christopher Carmon

At the age of 12, I started my own company to save money for college and also to give back to my local community. This experience has given me two traits which I value highly. First, starting my own company at 12 years old showed me the value and importance of hard work. Second, giving back to my local community through charity showed me the value and importance of leadership. Hard work and leadership are two traits I have that still bring me many opportunities and experiences. As a finance student, leadership and hard work have been consistent with my college education. Through the Farmer School of Business, I worked directly with Key Bank in a Client Challenge scenario. This involved working on a team and taking what we learned from four integrated business classes to solve a unique problem that Key Bank presented us. This opportunity helped me to improve my teamwork, communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills. To add to this experience, I was asked to lead as a teaching assistant in a business communication course after my strong performance in the class. I valued being a teaching assistant because I was able to help my fellow students in their own education. While I have had many successes and opportunities within the Farmer School of Business, many experiences have also occurred outside of my education. As a Spanish minor, speaking another language in any context is extremely useful and in high demand. Through my Spanish classes, I was able to use my own knowledge of the language to teach local elementary school students basic Spanish words and phrases. Through Air Force ROTC, I have attended many volunteer events and sharpened my leadership skills. Being in Air Force ROTC led to the opportunity of being accepted into the National Society of Pershing Rifles. This society exclusively focuses on leadership, being detail-oriented and developing character for achieving success. After my time in college and the Air Force, I hope to investigate fraud, financial wrongdoing and white collar crime. I have always been drawn to working hard, leading and helping others. For my future career, I strive to make these values part of my job as well.
