About Christopher Cassidy

After seven years of working as a health care support worker within the perioperative setting, I opted to seek further education in order to further my career. A year of night classes at the west of Scotland College followed by a further year of night time study at the University of Glasgow equipped me with the relevant higher education and recent study experience to be accepted onto the operating department practise (ODP) Bsc course at Glasgow Caledonian University. Working in Scotland's centre for excellence in orthopaedic surgery has provided me with an important skill set in time management, flexibility to different surgical approaches and the delivery of a fast, efficient and safe service for patients. In addition to these skills I have also gained specialist skills in both hip and knee arthroplastys ranging from conventional techniques to guided robotic cases.I have since gained further experience by consolidating my anaesthetic training within Scotland's Major Trauma Centre in Glasgow. During my time this position I have become very experienced in a variety of specialities in both scrub and anaesthetics. In December 2022 I gained my Advanced Life Support (ALS) certificate which provided me with more in depth knowledge of critically ill patients and the processes associated with resuscitation. As I move forward in my career I feel that either remote working or more management based positions would be better suited to my work life balance. I have interests in education, clinical support and management and would seek to progress within these fields.
