Reading Stephen Hawking’s “A Brief History of Time” in high school changed my life. From then on I was filled with a sense of wonder with the complexity of the universe. At Cornell I was drawn to mathematics by its elegance. I was fascinated by the level of abstraction involved, and both the creativity and rigor required in proofs. I was again filled with curiosity and wonder. It is this sense of curiosity and wonder that I strive to instill in students through teaching mathematics. As an academic advisor at a large research university, I help students explore their own passions and take ownership of their own education.
