About Christopher Ciccarelli

Dedicated environmental scientist with background in environmental policy, biology, and chemistry with field and lab water research experience. In my time at Castleton, I was very involved on campus, working as a peer tutor, a community advisor (RA), and a research assistant in the environmental chemistry lab. I also participated in multiple clubs and played on the men's soccer team. As a permit writer with NEIWPCC, I work within the NYSDEC Central Office to craft and review State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permits. I am a member of the Drinking Water Source Protection Program (DWSP2) where I work with permittees, their representatives, engineers, and various members of the public on municipal and industrial wastewater discharge SPDES permits within Source Water Protection areas to ensure SPDES permits are up-to-date and include effluent limitations necessary to protect public water supplies. I am tasked with SPDES permit development and permit renewals, reviewing engineering reports, and conducting water quality and effluent evaluations for wastewater treatment facilities. I also assist with internal DWSP2 coordination to ensure permitting and other processes include source water protection components.
