Background
About Christopher Clark
I have eleven years full-time nursing experience as a critical care RN. Additionally I have experiences in critical care nursing through job shadowing, volunteering, and ICU Externship over the years prior to earning RN licensure. I have had the chance to observe nurses at the Denver Health MICU in Colorado and the Good Samaritan Cardiac Care Unit in Portland, OR. I also volunteered in the MICU/SICU at Providence Hospital in Portland for the six months prior to beginning nursing school. My responsibilities and physical location while volunteering put me in the center of the ICU. This firsthand experience working with nurses in the critical care setting helped solidify my direction to critical care nursing as a career. My previous career involved working with children, adolescents, and their families along the entire continuum of ability and disability during my 13 years as a high school teacher and coach. My experience caring for older adults occurred primarily on the Intensive/Progressive Care units and the medical/surgical clinical rotations with Regis in the Denver Metro Area. Cumulatively, these experiences help me serve patients I care for. I began to develop my critical care practice with a senior practicum placement and subsequent externship in the Medical ICU at St. Anthony Hospital, a Level I trauma center in Lakewood, CO. While at St. Anthony, I cared for critically ill patients requiring ventilatory support, vasoactive medications, hemodynamic monitoring, and continuous renal replacement. My growth continued as an RN in the Intensive Care Unit at Central Washington Hospital, a regional center serving patients with cardiothoracic/cardiology, medical, surgical, neurological, and trauma conditions. I cared for fresh cardiothoracic post-operative patients during my time in the ICU and I hold the national certification for critical care nursing (CCRN) through the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. As an RN in the procedural areas, I continue to use use my decade long experience in critical to provide safe care to patients while working at the furthest point in my scope of practice. I now work as a travel RN specializing in the Interventional Radiology and Post Anesthesia Care areas.
