About Christopher Clarke

Following the award of First Prize for Classical Guitar Performance during his first year of study at Europe's largest conservatoire, Chris embarked on a brief solo career and performed at various venues throughout continental Europe. Chris studied with a former editor of the European Guitar Teachers' Association and author of several influential books on classical guitar repertoire and technique. In addition, he has participated in masterclasses with such luminaries as John Williams, Ricardo Iznaola and Vladmir Mikulka. Unfortunately, RSI curtailed his performing career but he subsequently contributed to examination syllabuses, periodicals and a book on musicians' injuries. Former UK-based students have excelled in one of England's finest young guitar ensembles and many have competed in national finals against a variety of instrumental groups at the Royal Albert Hall in London. In addition to classical repertoire, diverse guitar styles and interests are also embraced and previous students in Australia include Jack Hudson of Drawcard (recent winners of a Queensland award in the Hard Rock category) and the Brisbane-based blues guitarist, Brodie Graham. Chris also specialises in Music Theory. Having attained Grade 8 standard by the age of 17, students repeatedly achieve excellent results in this discipline.
