About Christopher Cowan
Dr. Cowan is Professor and Chair of the Department of Neuroscience at The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He also holds the William E. Murray SmartState Endowed Chair in Neuroscience. His research program seeks to identify novel genes, proteins, and molecular mechanisms that control brain development and function, and to understand the role of these basic processes in the young and adult brain under chronic pathological conditions, such as neurodevelopemental disorders, including ASD, and substance use disorders. Dr. Cowan is co-Founder of NeuroEpigenix, LLC, a start-up venture launched in 2020 that seeks to development new therapeutics for alcohol and substance use disorders.
