About Christopher Creech

My practice has always been objective oriented and practical. In law school, I clerked for a family law judge because I identified my passion for civil litigation early and knew it would give me an opportunity to participate in daily civil trials from the perspective of the bench. I carried that experience forward by becoming a Bar Certified Law Student with the San Jose City Attorney’s Office, arguing civil motions and trying short cause cases before I even finished my second year in law school. From that practical experience, I took home 2nd and 4th place finishes against teams from across the nation in two moot court competitions before graduating from Santa Clara University on the Dean’s List. After passing the bar, I continued what I began as a law student with the City of San Jose. I was promoted four times in a little over six years. My first week, I took to trial a municipal code prosecution involving the sensitive line between the City’s obligations under the Clean Water Act and justice for a transient population. By the time I left, I had prevailed as the lead attorney in a Proposition 218 class action and was working as part of a team defending another case involving over 250 plaintiffs. I also worked on complex California Environmental Quality Act litigation involving the City's airport as well as the development of a potential new baseball stadium. My practice spanned advice and representation across the full gamut of issues a municipality faces on a daily basis from the design of public property to eminent domain to breach of contract to labor strikes to retraining orders, code enforcement, civil service matters, and everything in between. Currently, I am defending the interests of cities, counties and special districts throughout California in a wide range of matters including civil rights, disability access and discrimination, prison litigation, officer involved shootings, and wrongful death. I am part of my firm’s trial team, which handles and advises public entities in sensitive cases followed closely by the media. I know from that experience how to avoid litigation in the first place through thoughtful advice and counseling that recognizes how the wrong word can look under a microscope. Whether in defending what has been done or working with staff to create the future, I can apply pragmatic expertise, value and confidence to an office that matches my passion for savvy litigation and public service.
