Background
About Christopher Dipompeo
Chris DiPompeo is a bankruptcy and distressed-situation litigator who has represented creditors, debtors, shareholders, and others in many of the largest corporate reorganizations in the United States. Chris was recognized as a "Rising Star" in Washington, D.C, by The National Law Journal and as a "Top 40 Under 40" honoree by the American Bankruptcy Institute. Chris has represented major creditors or equity holders in the bankruptcy cases of GDC Technics, General Motors, Intelsat, Energy Future Holdings, Caesars Entertainment, and Puerto Rico. His debtor/reorganized-debtor representations include the Diocese of Rockville Centre, MF Global, and the City of Detroit in its historic chapter 9 case. Chris's recent matters include counseling and litigation related to liability management exercises. Chris also regularly counsels manufacturers in disputes with distressed suppliers and customers, both inside and outside of bankruptcy. He counsels clients about strategic opportunities to resolve disputes favorably and represents them in litigation when necessary to protect their rights. Previously, Chris was co-lead counsel for The American Legion in its successful defense of a WWI memorial against an Establishment Clause challenge, developing the legal strategy that led to the Legion's landmark victory at the Supreme Court in The American Legion v. American Humanist Association. Before joining Jones Day, Chris clerked for Chief Justice John Roberts at the U.S. Supreme Court and Judge Paul Niemeyer at the Fourth Circuit.
