Senior Researcher on the TUS Impact project, funded by the HEA, investigating the impact of technological universities in Ireland and lecturer (current), specialising in the fields of cognition and education, with international expertise in the field of Critical Thinking. Author of the book 'Critical Thinking: Historical Perspectives & Practical Guideline's, published by Cambridge University Press; author of the ongoing blog for Psychology Today,'Thoughts on and the ‘Teaching Critical Thinking’ entry for the Sage Encyclopedia of Higher Education. Special guest editor for the Journal of Intelligence’s forthcoming special issue on Critical Thinking in Everyday Life. Co-applicant on the HRB-funded ‘A Cognitive Occupation-Based programme for people with Multiple Sclerosis: Definitive trial (COB-MS)’ worth over €1.2million. I am also an experienced Project Manager and Post-Doctoral Researcher in the area of cognitive difficulties associated with chronic illness (e.g. MS); with a PhD in Psychology and over 15 years’ experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research in the areas of health interventions, clinical decision-making, the psychology of education and critical thinking, with over 40 peer-reviewed research papers. I have vast work experience and expertise in psychological models that underpin learning, education, behaviour change, research development, statistical analysis, project management, epistemology and leadership.
