About Christopher Elligsen

I am working as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy and currently enrolled into a University to finish my pre requisites for my end goal of becoming an RN. I have been in the service for over 8 years and have become well rounded in all areas of medical work. I have been specialized in all aspects of patient care involving Direct Patient Care, Medical Documentation, Patient Education, Scheduling, Triaging, Telephone Consultations and Clinical Administrative Support. I am capable to take on any task and thoroughly complete work to the full efficient requirements. The skills acquired are: Verbal and written communication skills with patients and staff members, Patient Assessments, Vital Signs, patient record/chart documentation, infection control procedures, collection of specimens (blood/urine/swab/sputum/tissue), ambulation techniques, vision testing, hearing testing, medication dosing and administration, Electrocardiogram (12 lead) placement and recording, immunization administration, suture placement and removal, intravenous placement and removal, medical health assessments, scheduling appointments, ordering labs, patient room maintenance, medical record maintenance and staff education. Ability to stand alone as well as work in a team setting as an SME. I was lucky to have been given this opportunity and stepping stone to become not just a SME but also an experienced teacher and mentor. I have mastered any job assigned to me and learned it to the full extent of my capabilities leading me to become an effective teacher and mentor. I am able to identify areas that need improvement and implement my skills to mentor and advise. Three skills and contributions that I can offer to the work place are: Experience in the field, Management and Training.
