About Christopher Floyd

Christopher started working with LiveWorkPlay as a summer student. He worked as a job coach for job seekers with intellectual disabilities to find and secure meaningful employment opportunities. After finishing his Developmental Services Worker (DSW) diploma, he returned to LiveWorkPlay as a Community Connector. In this role, Christopher provides person-centred support to members in connecting with the community based on their interests and needs. This can include helping them access community classes and courses, attend medical appointments, find volunteering opportunities, join recreational activities, and travel training. Christopher also assists members in building and fostering relationships with family, friends, neighbours, and other community members. Moreover, he supports members to live independently in their homes, supporting them with financial organization, grocery shopping, household management, meal preparation, mental wellness practices, and using technology.Christopher is an autistic self-advocate ardent about creating social change in accessibility and inclusion. He believes everyone should have the opportunity to access and be included in the community without facing any barriers. He dreams of living in an equitable community where diversity is celebrated, and everyone is valued for who they are.Outside of work, Christopher enjoys spending time with his family and friends, helping them whenever he can. He also values solitude to reflect and recharge his spirit. He deeply appreciates nature and finds peace in listening, remembering, resting, and wandering. Nature helps Christopher to feel grounded and connected to the beauty of the world around him. He has a colourful imagination and finds joy in expressing his creativity through various forms of art, immersing himself in music, sharing stories, and strumming his guitar strings.
