About Christopher Garner
Recently obtained my PhD from the department of Microbiology and Plant Biology at the University of Oklahoma in the lab of Professor Lee Krumholz. My research focused on better understanding the microbial ecology of methane producing ecosystems by robust phylogenetic surveys and physiological studies. My work is focuses on 1) the taxonomic characterization of novel methane oxidizing bacteria (MOB), 2) the effects of reactive oxygen species toxicity on MOB physiology, 3) the physiology of nutrient exchange (primarily carbon) between MOB and other bacteria in co-culture laboratory conditions.I will start a new job as Assistant Professor of Biology at Southern Nazarene University on July 1st.
