Background
About Christopher Haller
In fifth grade, I saved for a year to buy the parts to build my first computer. Like a kid in a candy store, I was fascinated with the individual components and delighted in building (and rebuilding) the perfect machine. Today, I spend my free time tinkering with an ever-growing repertoire of computing products, like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and Lego Mindstorm kits. This work combines my dual passions of computer science and mechanical systems. As a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, I feel the same spark of joy I felt as a child assembling my first-ever PC. My background as a mechanical engineer in the aerospace industry will make me a more valuable and more adaptable addition to a software engineering organization. Through hard work and long days, I am committed to achieving equally impressive results in my future career. Career Highlights: SOFTWARE ENGINEERING – After eight years of consistent success as a mechanical engineer at a Fortune 100 company, I made the leap to pursue a degree in software engineering with the full support of my employer and colleagues. Although my program covered a wide range of disciplines, I was most passionate about cybersecurity. In my capstone project, I investigated, classified, and analyzed malware that posed a significant security risk. TEAM BUILDING – With significant leadership experience at Boeing and the U.S. Marine Corps, I have mastered the art of building, training, motivating, and coaching high-performing teams. At Boeing, I was the second-youngest tenured employee to achieve a promotion to my current role, where I manage multiple engineering teams. I ensure their success by leading from the front and offering steady support when they need it. CRISIS MANAGEMENT – When we encounter frustrating technical challenges, I take a leading role in rooting out the problem and engineering the right solution. In the past three years, I led my team to execute more than 20 safety improvement projects that eliminated safety risks for everyone who interacts with Boeing planes. One of my core skills is understanding which issues I can solve myself and which issues I should delegate to a more expert stakeholder.
