About Christopher Hastas

Meticulous Academic Tutor who undertakes presents complex academic material to students, has exceptional time management skills to meets tight deadlines and delivers high quality performance. Analytical and organized, with ability to identify needs and implement effective solutions. Also worked at Muscular Dystrophy NSW and learnt valuable insights regarding the disability community which I identify with as I have Muscular Dystrophy. Currently undergoing a PhD at WSU which focuses on powerchair football and identity. I have completed three diverse university degrees, that is – Bachelors of Business/ Commerce and Social Science as well as a Masters of Research with an aim at pursuing an academic career. The title of my thesis is Exploring the emancipatory potential of online video gaming for people with physical disabilities and their offline lifeworlds. The methodology for my research is multi-method with the use of an evocative autoethnography combined with 15 semi-structured online interviews. Currently also employed as a tutor at WSU within the School of Social Sciences for the unit (Contemporary Social Issues and Professional Practice – 102203). My employment and academic pursuits aim to promote the autonomy and independence of people with physical disabilities, through advocacy, awareness and support.
