About Christopher Heipp

After being a welder for several years, I decided to return to school to obtain my certification. It was while in this program, an adjunct instructor (a mechanical engineer working for Ideal Industries in Sycamore, IL) pulled me aside and strongly urged me to change my schooling to that of an engineering field. Ever since then, I haven't looked back. I obtained an Associate of Science and an Associate of Engineering Science at Kishwaukee Community College, and then my Bachelors in civil and materials engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago. At UIC, I became involved in the student chapter of ASCE, and was the logistics chair when UIC hosted the 2018 ASCE Student Conference. I was brought on as an intern at Brindley Engineering, and brought onto the team as a full-time employee upon graduation in the spring of 2019. 2020 has been a difficult year for me as it has for many people. Illinois shut down testing centers days before I was scheduled to take my FE exam, and I had to leave Brindley to attend to family medical needs. When the time came to refocus on my career many employers have had to tighten their belt. But this hasn't stopped me or my ambition. I am studying once again for my FE exam, and I am optimistic about the impact I can have in the workplace and the world as a whole.
