When you are young, your competitiveness level is at its highest. Your drive for a career driven life makes you put the extra effort to get you the attention and recognition as a professional in your field of expertise.As you get older, you are met with different priorities in your life. Whether it be starting a family, different career choice, or maybe even trying out a start up.The choices you make takes you to where you are as an individual and also as part of an organisation or family.Being a pilot has been a dream for myself and it has taken me places, given me privileges, and brought me to where I am now as an individual. I still aspire to do better than I've done the previous day/month/year, and I try to inspire people that look up to me.As a Captain now, I see everything in a different light. All the grey areas become black and white and I feel content with how far I've come in life and look towards the future with a bit more certainty than I did flying around as a First Officer. It is the hard work you put in during your inexperienced years and the drive/ambition to learn and build yourself that makes you content later on in life. If I may pass on anything, it'd be these:1. Never trade hard work for a free pass. It is NOT even close to a substitute. Live your life with a purpose and plan for realistic goals for yourself. Always know and understand what you are doing and what you want to achieve. Be content.
