About Christopher Kandel

I am a debt finance lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience in the London market advising on leveraged, special situations and acquisition finance and restructuring matters under both English and U.S. law. I am “hands on” in my work, and also bring to bear an unusually broad experience base, including high-yield and debt capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, securitization, derivatives, margin loans, fund finance, investment grade, pre and post IPO financings, banking regulation, and other related areas. Over the course of my career, I have advised on landmark and innovative transactions, including numerous European acquisition financings (including more than my fair share of take private transactions in the UK and around Europe), the largest LBO financing in Asia, the second-ever high yield issue in Japan, the first international syndicated loan to a corporate in Turkey, the first super-senior revolver in Europe, the first pari passu secured bank/bond issue in Europe and the first Western-sponsor style leveraged buyout financing in Russia. I also pride myself on building and training teams of lawyers who become independent and go on to be market leaders.
