When I was a kid I wanted to be a garbage man or find dinosaur fossils when i grew up. Neither of those things panned out for me & that actually kinda sucks. the death of one or two childhood dreams does not negate the possibility that new dreams might materialize later in life. These days I'm lucky to enjoy working closely with retail data solutions on an architect team that is very closely embedded with our data engineering team, which is where I spent most of my post-Aerospace career. In addition to the many things that come with the commonly understood definition of an architect role, I'm lucky to spend a ton of time in the hyperbolic-data-chamber-dojo developing, designing, building, warehousing, integrating, teaching/guiding, managing governance/platforms & so on for all things data at Zumiez. I expend a higher-than-physician-recommend amount of braincells on the regular execution of the finest workplace memes, which we consider critical life-force during any engineering & development timelines. Basically that blue worm juice Timothy Chalamet chugged in Dune 2 that made him omniscient, but way more potent. Most notably I get to work alongside a small team of remarkable elite data rats that collectively move planets in exchange for smelling salts & exquisite memes. We do things that will make fortune 500 companies question the way they've designed their data strategies. We execute in ways that many jedi would consider. unnatural. and accomplish feats many companies attribute to mythical enterprise lore. Live reporting acrossed many disparate modern/legacy platforms and data sources, real time data availability & live integrations? You name it. We dream, scheme, meme, and sometimes beans it into existence. Our little data rat claws extend far into many verticals & business units. Data engineering, business intelligence, analytics & reporting, applications development, storefront operations, order & warehouse management & fulfillment, product data/tooling, omnichannel ecommerce solutions, customer data warehouse & analytics, HR/timekeeping/payroll systems and many, many, more. Sure, yeah, like. maybe we have rabies. But we've successfully weaponized it in the almighty arena of data. Always eager to claw at and rip out legacy solutions and reintroduce them with modernized capabilities and scalability. We are always scurrying around, sniffing for new possibilities and we're always scanning the horizon for shiny new tech to dig our claws into. And we are always seeking a challenge in the data rat arena. Ask me about it sometime
