About Christopher Lay

Christopher Lay is a litigation attorney at IpHorgan Ltd, a firm focusing on intellectual property matters. IpHorgan brought Chris on board in July 2014 to expand its litigation practice. At IpHorgan, Chris has helped attain favorable settlements for clients in breach of contract, patent, and trademark matters, as well as counseled clients on risk mitigation and brand protection. Prior to joining the firm, Chris worked for six years at Jenner & Block LLP, where he litigated class action, patent, copyright, trademark, and general commercial matters. Chris has successfully represented multinational corporations, including the world’s largest contact lens manufacturer at two trials and the largest music company in the United States in copyright litigation. He has participated in all aspects of litigation, and frequently works with in-house counsel to solve legal issues and to avoid litigation. Chris successfully represented a civil rights appellant before the Seventh Circuit, obtaining reversal on all grounds argued. Chris has obtained settlements for clients seeking redress for violations of their constitutional rights, and a successful plea agreement in a criminal case for a client charged with six felonies. In 2011, Chris returned to Loyola as an adjunct professor to teach legal writing, and in 2012 authored for the ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law an extensive article on permanent injunctions in patent cases following the landmark Supreme Court decision in Ebay. Prior to entering law school, Chris owned a music production company, where he composed and produced music for advertising, television, film, and corporate clients, including McDonald's, Minute Maid, Pillsbury, Ingersoll-Rand, Budweiser, Reebok, Turtle Wax, and Malibu Rum. In addition, he performed with well-known artists such as Michael Buble, Ray Charles, Dianne Schuur, Garth Brooks, Burt Bacharach, Donna Summer, the Pointer Sisters, and Jay Leno.
