About Christopher Marshall

I have always had a passion for learning and problem solving, as a child my peers derided me as a nerd, but this passion has supported me well over the years. I have also found myself in - and found myself able to thrive in - unusual and varied environments; aged seven my family moved to Papua New Guinea, an environment that forced me to learn to adapt in order to thrive. Around the same time, I found my passion for technology by teaching myself programming on my parents’ Amstrad CPC 464—a spark that shaped my future career. Curiosity has always driven me. As a teenager, I achieved Grade 8 on the cello, performed in orchestras, practiced Judo, trained in first aid with St John’s Ambulance and many other varied activies. That same drive to learn and grow continues to underpin my professional journey. After earning my Honours Degree in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, I began my career at iSOFT, developing a clinical web portal. When engineering was moved to India I re-invented myself moving into design and prototyping. The role took me to India to collaborate with the development teams and Singapore to conduct user design sessions with SingHealth. Outside of my career I continued exploring music with the Open university and completed their diploma in Management. At Cerner, I deepened my expertise in healthcare standards such as SNOMED and HL7 before moving to Clinithink as a Terminology Architect and later Product Owner with occational side roles in data science. There, I developed tooling around a core NLP engine to provide ICD10 and processes to map SNOMED CT to HPO enabling the Guiness World Record for the fastest diagnosis of a rare disease - saving a babies life in the process. Beyond work, with the time remaining from my four chidlren I continue to play orchestral music and explore British folk traditions. Today, I’m excited to bring my passion for technology and lifelong learning to a new role where I can tackle fresh challenges. While healthcare continues to inspire me, I’m equally motivated by opportunities in other industries, for example renewable energy, education, and music. I’m a communicator, collaborator, and problem-solver—always eager to contribute, share ideas, and learn from those around me
