About Christopher Milliron

Recent graduate of the Siemens Energy Field Service Engineer in Training Program. During training I had the opportunity to work on multiple gas turbine outages. These outages ranged from a combustor inspection to a major which is essentially a tear down, inspect, and rebuild of the entire drive train (compressor through exhaust). Since graduating, my focus has been on steam turbines, specifically older, coal burning units that have larger generators and can put more megawatts on the grid than their gas counterparts. This has been an eye opening experience for me as I now am more interested in steam turbines than gas. Working on these units has helped develop my skills as an engineer and a leader. As an engineer, I am responsible for ensuring that the unit is disassembled properly and all as found precision measurements. I am also responsible for identifying components that might need additional work outside of our work scope during the discovery phase of the outage. Lastly, during the reassembly stage I am responsible for ensuring that all components are installed correctly and all as left precision measurements are within tolerance. As a leader, I was able to sharpen my leadership skills in my previous career as an Executive Chef. In my new career, I am able to really hone my leadership skills by working with technicians and millwrights that have much more experience than I do. What this means that while I am in charge, I certainly do not know everything there is to know about these machines, and I can tap this vast knowledge the crew has to make the most educated decisions possible.
