About Christopher Ostro

I’m a passionate and driven education professional who’s always seeking to be better at what I do so I can help others be better at what they do. I love learning and trying new things, which is part of why I’ve worked in education in so many different capacities. I’ve worked in education for 7 years. I've taken on new challenges and tasks nearly every year in my journey as an educator. I started as a tutor, became a teacher, then a writing consultant/editor, and most recently a course design assistant. In the past 4 years I’ve designed a number of courses in a variety of departments for students ranging from sophomores in high school to juniors in college. I’ve designed courses for a traditional format, a hybrid format, and a fully online format. For a complete list of courses I’ve designed and taught, see below in my LinkedIn profile. Currently, I work a number of odd jobs in the field of education. I teach 1-2 classes each semester at CU, and I've also grown much more involved in educational support roles. I work as a writing consultant at two different universities helping very different types of students succeed. I also help newer teachers hit the ground running and I enjoy helping others discover the joy of teaching. Recently I've started to work with more experienced teachers, helping them try new things, such as making their class more accessible to non-traditional students, or redesigning an old course to fit a new format (such as hybrid or online). It is very important to me that I do the most good I can. For this reason, I'm always working on polishing my teaching style, and maximizing student mastery. I love helping people and education has allowed me to do that as a career. I like variety and working the diverse educational jobs I’ve worked has made sure I’m never bored.
