I am currently wrapping up a 10 year project to convert a 1990-era mutual fund accounting system from OpenVMS to Linux. Aside from the software port we also modernized software development and systems management practices. While putting the finishing touches on that I am designing the path forward now that we are on a modern database and operating system. The plan is to add REST to our current SOAP/XML interfaces as well as moving to Docker containers. Our new source management will be based on Git, Maven, Jenkins, and JIRA.
