Experienced in-A variety of methods analyzing protein chemistry -A diversity of cellular and molecular techniques -Managing teams of people while working with dangerous animals/materials (snakes and their venoms) during reptile husbandry duties and snake venom extractions -Collecting snake venom samples and performing s.c. and i.p. injections in snakes/mice/lizards -Delivering ~45 min. PowerPoint presentations to members of the public and educators at schools, state parks, and naturalist training sessions -Collecting, organizing, analyzing, and presenting data in posters and in Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint to an audience of peers and professionals at national conferences -Teaching beginning and advanced-level college Biology courses and high school Biology/Math classes -Serving as vice president of a nonprofit organization -Being an assistant manager of a cigar bar Specialties: Techniques used: RP-HPLC, LC-MS/MS, PCR, enzyme assays, spectrophotometry, 1-D SDS-PAGE, western blotting, LD50, size exclusion, the determination of protein concentrations, RNAi, plasmid vector design/use, bacterial/avian cell transfection, cell culture, and the purification of plasmids and nuclear extracts.
