About Christopher Rochester

I firmly believe that the right amount of academic support as well as mental health support can lead to success even in the most vulnerable of populations. As a student at the University of Delaware, taking classes such as Developmental Psychology and having many unique experiences outside of academia, I concluded that I wanted to study school psychology, specifically at the University of Delaware. As is my nature, I am thoroughly interested in the success of vulnerable youth and seeing what factors can contribute to the best student success outcomes. It quickly became evident to me through some wonderful opportunities presented to me that I deeply desire to be more directly involved in the outcomes of juveniles. So many of the individuals I had the opportunity to meet were having problems in school that only compounded their problems outside of it, and it was also evident that many of them fell into trouble due to trauma and lack of a support system. I’m certain that by entering a role in a school setting, I can better and more directly serve these high-risk juveniles and attack potential problems at the source, hopefully leading to avoidance of legal troubles and overall better success in school and out. I hope to further develop the relationship between school psychologists, social workers, and clinical researchers, minimizing the divide and stigma surrounding mental health and treatment while emphasizing the importance of mental health care. I am excited to get started with GROW, and can’t wait to give back to my community. Look forward to connecting!
