About Christopher Rodriguez

After working for over a decade in the field of transportation, I realized the great need for 2 things. The first is for the continuous integration of technical skills into our traditional engineering roles. After working at Google for a year I realized that it doesn't matter the work you do, if you have the skills to integrate different automation tools, you can 10x your productivity and quality of work. After that experience, I started working on PTC projects in LIRR, MNR, and NJT, and introduced basic VBA to drastically reduce the amount of time the testing team needed for reporting tasks. The second is the need for coachability. I have taught martial arts since 2016 and the number 1 trait I look for is coachability - how well can you listen and then follow instructions. I used this line of reasoning during my time at the NYC Bus Radio Project to train a small group of interns to learn how I configure radios for the project. I gave feedback, gave the team room for input, and gave them responsibilities at a level that they could manage. After a few weeks, we cut the time to finish radio configuration for the entire project in a quarter - from 2 years to 6 months: My biggest asset to any team is my ability to learn and dive deep into a topic. Empower junior members to make them feel a part of something bigger than themselves. Communicate across departments because the velocity of communication correlates with the velocity of work. Managing tasks, which include planning, execution, documentation, and reporting. Knowing how to best communicate to each stakeholder to achieve results: Learning. I love to see that I'm learning and improving. Independence to make quick decisions and be nimble in the workplace. Making a 10x difference.
