About Christopher Schaefer

My passion for engineering came at a young age, in fact so young, that I didn't even know what the term engineering meant. I remember watching my father take off in his fighter jet for the first time at the local military base in Germany and the awe that was instilled in my mind at that very point would define my career path fourteen years later. I still share the same passion for engineering to this day and my studies at North Carolina State University have only made me want to continue down this path even more. I find joy and satisfaction in solving complex engineering problems and working together with engineering teams to examine all possibilities and solutions for product design. I have worked with several teams so far, the biggest one being the Liquid Rocketry Lab here at North Carolina State University where I have applied the fundamentals I have learned in my engineering classes so far, ranging from engineering ethics to complex aerodynamic concepts. Working with teams at my university such as these has given me critical skills essential to engineers today such as 3D modeling with SolidWorks and coding experience with MATLAB. Along with these technical skills, I have also learned the value of team building and effective communication through many different portals whether they be online or in person. I am always happy to meet new people and invite the possibility of such in my day-to-day life with volunteering service at my local church, and being a part of local sports groups in my area. When I am not studying or designing parts in SolidWorks, I like to play a casual round of golf or disc golf and produce music. I am currently still attending North Carolina State University and plan to finish my undergraduate career here with a concentration in fixed-wing aircraft and a minor in German language with a job search to become a future aerospace engineer.
