I am a retired dentist who owned Smiley Family Dentistry in Grand Rapids, founded by my father in 1948. I served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Michigan Dental Association until May 2023. I was the 2020 recipient of the ADA/AADR Evidence-Based Dentistry Practice Award. I am a past chairman of the Dental Quality Alliance and the ADA Council on Dental Benefit Programs. I deliver continuing education presentations on dental benefits and CDT coding and the implementation of AI.
